Meet Coaches B, Kati & T!

  1. Updates
AmeriCorps engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. Playworks started our partnership with AmeriCorps in 2004. Since then, we have received over $9 million dollars in funding support and 1,071 members have contributed almost 2 million hours of service.

This year, Playworks Pacific Northwest is proud to have 12 members serving with us at our partner school communities. They are committed to contributing more than 20,000 hours to service during the 2015-2016 school year.

Meet our AmeriCorps Coaches! Coach B, Coach Kati, and Coach T share with us the importance of service and what they have learned thus far.

Coach B (Jacob)
Service is important to me because I see myself as part of a larger community that could benefit from my help. AmeriCorps has given me an opportunity to successfully provide service to my community in a way that would not have been possible on my own. As a Corps member I appreciate every chance to learn from the members of our Portland community and throughout my term of service I have gained new perspective concerning the importance of community and respect.

Coach Kati
Service is important to me because it is so important for us to give back to the community. Serving is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have learned so much about my community and how I can further help students succeed at school and in life in general. It is an amazing opportunity and an amazing feeling to know that you have made a difference in a child's life.

Coach T (Travis)
Service is important to me because I feel very fortunate to have grown up with such great privilege and feel obligated to give back to those who may need more positive energy and sincerity in their life. To be an AmeriCorps member means total dedication to improving your community with a specific goal in mind (like teaching values to youth through play). Through my service, I have been reminded of the importance of celebrating our differences while cooperating to overcome shared struggles.
