Ms. Kutney, 4th Grade Teacher, Academy of the Americas
Ms. Kutney enters room 312 at the Academy of the Americas every day with a smile and a huge positive attitude. She supports the Playworks positive behavior model by modeling Playworks language and behavior for her students. High fives are given throughout the day; when students are entering the room, when a student completes a math problem on the board, and of course - at recess.
"Good job, nice try" does not only relate to 4-square, but also to students attempts at math problems or reading passages. As a class, her students are more than just classmates; they are friends continuously working together throughout the school day. However, Ms. Kutney's dedication to her students and Playworks does not end there - she regularly attends Playworks basketball, volleyball, and cooking events outside of the school day. Because of her focus on her students’ education and well-being, in the classroom and outside, she truly is a teacher to be appreciated!
