Playworks Massachusetts Teacher of the Month, Ms. Bahn

  1. Updates

Ms. Bahn is an awesome fourth grade teacher and a huge supporter of Playworks at the Argenziano School in Somerville with Site Coordinator Caroline! Ms. Bahn is no stranger to Playworks, as her previous school was a Playworks partner. She started the year with an incredible excitement knowing that her school would now be partnering with Playworks. She has supported Playworks in different ways this year, and she even carved out time to help write a letter in support of Playworks highlighting how it teaches her students conflict resolution and social-emotional learning skills. When it came down to recruiting Junior Coaches she was more than happy to select students who would benefit the most from the program.

When New England weather required her class based action learning lesson to be inside, Ms. Bahn was excited to learn new indoor games to integrate into her classroom. She was excited to learn new games and implements games like Ninja Master and Pulse during movement breaks. During recess she encourages students to play games together like Switch and now her students jump right into playing it at recess without being reminded. She loves how the rotation of the game keeps all her students engaged and playing cooperatively alongside one another. With her willingness to learn new things and help support Playworks programming in her school, Ms. Bahn energizes education for all!
