Junior Coach David Makes Excellent Happen

  1. Updates

Junior Coach David is a fourth grade student at the Chittick Elementary School in Mattapan with Coach Kevin. He is a humble leader on and off the playground. During his own recess time and the recesses he is a Junior Coach, David takes the role of a quiet leader, always stepping up in tough situations and leading by example. The first grade classes especially look up to him for kickball tips and sportsmanship. During fourth grade football games, David is quick to make even teams and ensure that all students are playing safely and having fun. Additionally David, along with other fourth graders, has begun to play "Super Bowls" once a week at recess where every fourth grader, regardless of skill, is encouraged to play.

Off the playground, David has taken his leadership to a whole new venue. David performed as the lead role of Simba in the Chittick's production of The Lion King. At play practices, he uses his junior coach leadership skills to keep the other performers focused and to make the production the best it could be. With his incredible dedication to being a Junior Coach and his enthusiasm for being a leader at his school, we know David will continue to make excellent happen throughout the Playworks community.
