On May 2, thousands of people will support their favorite nonprofit organizations for GiveNOLA Day. This year, we are striving to raise $2,500 for Playworks services, including our Junior Coach Leadership Program.
Junior Coaches receive 25 hours of training to build valuable work and life skills. Junior Coaches learn how to lead with inclusion, resolve conflicts, and manage groups while practicing strategies to prevent bullying on the playground. This peer leadership program also improves kids’ self-esteem and increases their academic motivation. In our 2016 annual survey, 100% of teachers with Junior Coaches in their classroom reported growth in students' leadership skills and 92% of teachers saw growth in students' teamwork abilities. We plan to provide training to more than 30 Junior Coach student leaders in New Orleans.
But, we need your help. Mark May 2 on your calendar for GiveNOLA Day to support Playworks Louisiana. You can also make scheduled donations between now and May 1, 2017. Help us spread the word so we can meet our goal of $2,500 to support Junior Coach leaders throughout New Orleans.
