Mr. Martin

Mark began his career in education as a Teach for America corps member teaching first grade in Atlanta. After earning his MBA from the University of Georgia, Mark moved to New Orleans where he co-founded Langston Hughes Academy and currently serves as the School Director. Mark is deeply passionate about engaging families and the community in the schoolʼs mission and investing students in their big dreams.

In addition to bringing Playworks to his school next year, Principal Martin provided his school as a fantastic venue for Playworks NOLA’s 2013 Kickball Tournament!  The facility was perfect for us with a nice green space, tables, chairs, locker rooms, and even an ice machine! He then put together a fun group of teachers and led his team on the field of play during the tournament.  As a playful Principal, Mark embodies the Playworks spirit of teamwork.  Even though he is new to the Playworks New Orleans team, he has already made a big impact!
