Tom Lange retired from Lilly after a fulfilling 34 years. At Lilly, he utilized his expertise in areas such as Leadership and Organizational Development and Project Management. These same skills, combined with his passion for service to others, has brought Tom into a unique position in the nonprofit sector as founder of a service organization and Board Member at Playworks IN. In both roles, he is focused on improving the lives of the most vulnerable youth in Central Indiana.
Tom joined the Board of Directors for Playworks IN after first-hand experience with the delivery of the Playworks Coach model at Fox Hill Elementary. Tom was drawn to the means by which Playworks programming built confidence and self-esteem amongst the diverse student body, and he was pleased with the obvious value to the faculty created by productive recess and conflict resolutions skills spread throughout the school population. In his capacity as Board Member he has directly engaged in the strategic planning process and assisted with the cultivation of important relationships to increase the reach of Playworks within the state.
Lange also brings his expertise and passion to bare as the founder of Lion Catchers. Created in 2014, Lion Catchers is an informal coalition of professionals and community service organizations, including MSDWT, Butler University's College of Education, and non-profits like Playworks, working in partnership to identify, address, and break down the barriers faced by many low-income families.
