2017 Champions of Play Award Recipients

Healthy Play – Josh Wagner, Volunteer

Presented by Miranda, Junior Coach at Mosely Elementary School

Josh is an associate at Silicon Valley Bank and has been volunteering with Playworks since 2014. As a regular volunteer at Trevista, he acts as a positive role model on the playground, helping kids get active and enjoy recess. He is also a member of our Young Professionals Board, where he leverages his skills and networks to help Playworks reach our mission. Josh’s commitment to bring healthy play to the students Playworks serves has earned him our Healthy Play Award.

Healthy Community – Nivan Khosravi, Principal, Maxwell Elementary School

Presented by Hailey, Junior Coach at Maxwell Elementary School

Nivan is the principal at Maxwell Elementary, a long-time school partner. Playworks’ success is dependent on strong school partnerships. Having partners like Nivan allows Playworks to fully integrate into a school community. Nivan and Coach Kira, a third-year Playworks coach, partner to create a school environment in which every student can thrive and succeed. For his commitment to Playworks and his success in creating a community of play at Maxwell, Principal Nivan received our Healthy Community Award.

Inclusion – Kenton Elementary School Community

Presented by Nathan, Junior Coach at Mosely Elementary School

Kenton Elementary is a first-year TeamUp school, where they are working with Coach Dani to transform their school environment and build social-emotional skills in their students through play. This is the first year Playworks Colorado has implemented our TeamUp service, and Kenton Elementary has embraced the program fully. They have received accolades from the Playworks national program quality department and have become a shining star in the TeamUp community. For their work in rallying their whole school community and students around Playworks, they received our Inclusion Award.

Respect – Susahnn Valente, Coach, Achieve Elementary School

Presented by Valaria, Junior Coach at Greenwood Elementary School

Coach Susahnn is a third-year Playworks coach working at Achieve Academy PrK-8. Susahnn works to bring safe and healthy play to her students every day and exemplifies each of our core values. She is creating a respectful, inclusive community at Achieve, helping each of her students succeed on the playground and in the classroom. For being a tireless advocate for Playworks and for the impact she has at Achieve, she has earned our Respect Award.
