March Superhero of the Month

  1. Updates

Coach John is in his 3rd year with Playworks Arizona. After serving as a coach for 2 years, Coach John has transitioned into a site-coordinator role serving four TeamUp schools in the Creighton Elementary School District. This year, he played an integral part in Arizona’s TeamUp pilot, serving both schools that have transitioned from our full-time Coach model and a brand new Playworks school!

Always laced up in the coolest shoes, Coach John has made every effort to built strong rapport with students, staff, principals, and parents at each school.  Not only is he a rock star coach, but he has worked timelessly to innovate and create new TeamUp tools for each site.

Coach John’s manager hears positive feedback from students and staff at each of his schools when visiting. They cannot say enough about the new games they have learned and are implementing in some of their classrooms.

This term, one of Coach John’s schools hosted an important national research study done by the University of California, Santa Cruz. This study will play an integral part in understanding how schools have transitioned to Playworks TeamUp.  The results will be shared this summer for all of Playworks Nation to see!

Outside of running a stellar program, Coach John makes time to volunteer at Playworks events like Run the Runway. Coach John even takes the time to share successes and photos on Twitter, which have been seen by staff members and district employees. Coach John is a true advocate of the Playworks mission.

A huge Superstar Clap to Coach John! We are so proud to be honoring him in our goal to #EnergizeAZ.
