The Power of Play
AmeriCorps
Play all day at school ... and make sure everyone else can, too.

Remember what a rock star you were at four-square? And how great it felt to connect your foot with that bouncing kickball and sprint with laughter to to the base? Or did you to want to get in the game but were left out because you didn't know how to play or "weren't good enough?"
As a Playworks program coordinator, or "coach," you have the opportunity to make every child a high-five hero. Playworks serves low-income urban schools, providing opportunities for kids to get active and get in the game. Our coaches are recess rock stars, champions of play and the most beloved kid on campus.
Playworks is proud to partner with AmeriCorps, providing opportunities for individuals to make a difference in their lives and the lives of those around them. Many of our first-year coaches are AmeriCorps members, applying their skills and ideals to helping others and serving their community by serving in schools.
Playworks program coordinators are full-time positions, responsible for planning and implementing play and physical activity programming during recess, in school and outside of school hours at a public school. Check out a typical day at school for a Playworks coach.
