Blogs We Like
I thought I’d employ the blog to share a little love today. Our programs, schools and services have grown exponentially over the past few years. And so has the number of people we need to keep serving them. So today is Moving Day at the Playworks National/East Bay offices and lots of people have been working really hard to make it all go smoothly. Many thanks go to all the staff for packing up with just a modicum of grumbling. Special shout out to our remarkable Pin-up Men of IT, Rich, Rob and Kofi. Maybe it’s jinxing it to thank them before the switch has actually gone down, but whatever happens, they’ve been working really hard in preparation. Special extra thanks to Chris Conard who, on top of keeping me, David Rothenberg and Elizabeth Cushing on our respective games, has been coordinating the move in his free time.
Not to be too Pollyanna about the whole thing, but moving after seven years in the same location has inspired some good clean-up behaviors. A few of us have had to let go of things. We’ve reduced, reused and recycled. We’ve sent outdated CDs and jewel cases to school art programs and to the Depot for Creative Reuse. We’ve also donated some 30 boxes of old Sports4Kids t-shirts to a group called Sirona Cares, which will be distributing them in Haiti!
If you’re trying to reach us these next couple of days, don’t lose heart, we’ll be answering calls and responding to email just as soon as we can!
And the new digs... As of Monday, February 21, you can find us one block away -- at 380 Washington Street, Oakland, CA 94607.
