Playworkers across the nation honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by serving beyond the playground

For the Playworks community, Martin Luther King Day is a day of doing. Playworkers across 23 cities put our healthy community core value into practice by jumping into service projects outside of the playground.

From packaging engineering kits for Boston public schools and restoring a high school campus in Southern California, to stocking shelves in a Michigan food pantry and crafting dolls for a children’s hospital in Utah, Playworks Coaches, staff, and students honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service.

With the new year in full swing, Martin Luther King Day provided a time to enrich our communities in new ways, exercise empathy and leadership, and reflect on how we can continue to create safer, meaningful opportunities for play in 2017.
