“I think everything from the playground had an impact on me and future life.” —Kevin Carroll
Raised by his grandparents in the Philadelphia area, Kevin Carroll spent endless hours at the neighborhood playground where he found his "calling" - a red rubber ball. His subsequent pursuit of sport and play (aka his "red rubber ball") plus his love of books has led Kevin to becoming an author, a speaker and a social change agent.
Kevin has dedicated his life to advancing education and the power of sports & play as vehicles for social change. He partners with non-governmental organizations(NGOs) around the world that share in his vision and goals. He was honored to address the United Nations as part of the UN Year of Sports For Development And Peace in 2005 and to serve as the host of the Beyond Sport Summit & Awards that featured Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 2009 (London) and 2011 (CapeTown).
The author of the Red Rubber Ball series, Kevin is passionate about the power of play and its potential to unlock our success.
"Today's 4 Rs of Education = Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic and... RECESS!" Kevin says. "Recess is necessary and needed for all students. It fosters and develops skills that will be critical to success in adulthood - communication, collaboration, problem-solving, conflict resolution, teamwork, imagination and ingenuity."
As author, speaker and social change agent (aka The Katalyst), it's Kevin's "job" to inspire businesses, organizations and individuals - from CEOs and employees of Fortune 500 companies to students of all ages - to embrace their spirit of play and creativity to maximize their potential.
